Use soothieº sitting or standing, at home, in the car or at the office, horizontally or vertically, on any part of your body that feels stiff, sore or needs support.

Many soothieº users prefer to alternate hot and cold therapy sessions for the most soothing results. That’s because applying heat increases blood flow to the affected area, relaxing muscles and easing stiffness. In contrast, applying cold restricts blood flow and reduces swelling. Rotating hot and cold therapies stimulates healthy circulation, bringing healing oxygen and nutrients to reduce inflammation and relieve pain.

Your soothieº comes with two patented Soothie° Hot & Cold Element Packs, making it easy and convenient to choose, use and alternate hot and cold therapies for maximum relief. With a quick switch, you can use your soothieº with its element heated or cooled, or with no soothieº element pack at all.

HOT THERAPY
When you’re suffering from stiff joints, shoulder or back pain, cramps, or sore or strained muscles, applying heat to the affected area stimulates circulation and raises skin temperature, which helps relax and loosen tissues, relieve pain and increase flexibility. 

Hot therapy is the ideal treatment for chronic and/or intermittent discomfort, such as:
•    a stiff neck 
•    tight, tense shoulders
•    lower back pain
•    cramps 
•    trigger point or muscle spasms 
•    fibromyalgia aches
•    tired, overworked muscles.
•    
You can even use your soothieº to warm an injured area before exercise or exertion, for extra warmth and comfort any time you’re feeling chilly, or to help you relax when you’re feeling stressed.

How to heat soothieº for effective hot therapy
Always begin by removing the patented Soothie° Hot & Cold Element Packs from the soothieº cushion’s pocket and inspecting it to ensure that its exterior is clean and free of any signs of damage, such as punctures, rips, tears, discoloration or leaks. Once you have the inspected soothieº element in hand, you can warm the element in either of two ways: 
•    by heating it in a clean microwave oven 
•    by submerging it in hot water in a sink or basin.

TO HEAT USING A MICROWAVE
IMPORTANT: If the soothieº element is frozen, allow it to completely thaw to room temperature prior to heating it in a microwave oven.

Place a single soothieº element in a CLEAN microwave oven, positioning the element carefully so that it does not touch the sides of the microwave. Refer to your microwave’s operating manual* and use wattage guide to determine the proper heating time.

* If you do not have the operating manual, contact the manufacturer to find wattage. If you are still unsure about the correct heating time, start with the shortest time and gradually increase to the suggested time.

After heating, carefully remove the soothieº element from the microwave and insert it into your soothieº cushion’s pocket. 

Your soothieº is ready to use for long-lasting hot therapy.

TO HEAT USING HOT WATER
In a kitchen sink or large basin, pour enough hot, just-boiled water to completely cover the soothieº element. Carefully submerge the element in the hot water and leave it for 5 minutes. Remove the HOT element from the water, dry with a clean, soft cloth, and insert it into your soothieº cushion’s pocket. 

Your soothieº is ready to use for comforting long-lasting hot therapy.

COLD THERAPY 
Cold therapy is recommended for accidental or athletic injuries, especially when the injured area is hot, red, swollen or painful. Applying cold temperatures when tissues are damaged or inflamed helps reduce swelling and bruising, control pain and stimulate healing. 

Cold therapy causes the veins and capillaries in the tissue to constrict, which slows blood flow and circulation, helps numb nerve endings to minimize pain, reduces the below-skin bleeding and fluid buildup that causes bruising and swelling, and controls symptoms of inflammation. Once the cold is removed and the area begins to warm, the vessels dilate, allowing healing blood, oxygen and nutrients to rush to and refresh the affected muscles, ligaments and tendons. For maximum effectiveness, apply cold therapy treatment several times a day for up to 72 hours after an injury.

How to freeze soothieº for effective cold therapy
Always begin by removing the patented soothieº element from the soothieº cushion’s pocket and inspecting it to ensure that its exterior is clean and free of any signs of damage, such as punctures, rips, tears, discoloration or leaks. Once you have the inspected soothieº element in hand, you can chill it in your freezer.
 
TO COOL IN A FREEZER
Place a soothieº element FLAT in your freezer for 6 hours or overnight. Remove from freezer and rinse with warm water to remove any ice accumulated on the outside. If the frozen element is too rigid to fit comfortably against your body, immerse it in warm water for a few minutes or until it reaches the pliability you prefer. Dry the element with a clean, soft cloth and insert it into your soothieº cushion’s pocket. 
 
Your soothieº is ready to use for long-lasting cold therapy.

How to clean and store soothieº 
Spot clean your soothieº cushion using mild detergent and warm water, as needed. The soothieº cushion may also be dry cleaned. Store it as you would any fine linen or garment.

Clean soothieº elements with mild soap and water. DO NOT use harsh chemicals or household cleaners. Store the element flat (not folded or twisted) in a cool, dry place. DO NOT expose the element to prolonged periods of sun exposure. DO NOT store elements in reach of small children or near pets.
