Chill Out

Cold therapy* helps reduce back pain by decreasing inflammation and numbing sore tissues,
providing relief. Cold compression causes veins in the tissue to contract, reducing circulation.
Once removed, the veins overcompensate and dilate allowing blood to rush in, bringing necessary nutrients to the
affected area.
*Ice or cold therapy should be used for no more than about 10 minutes every hour.
If you apply ice for longer than this, you may find it counter productive because of the body’s
natural tendency to keep itself warm and increase blood flow to the area being chilled.
Prolonged use could cause increased inflammation or swelling.
